This week’s episode focuses on Nasty C, in which the 26-year-old rapper opens up about his childhood, music career and whether he would ever branch out into acting after appearing in Netflix’s Blood and Water

“Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, more popularly known as Nasty C, is the voice of his generation. The multi-award winning South African rapper originates from Durban in the KwaZulu-Natal Province and has been dubbed ‘The Coolest Kid In Africa’,” reads his website bio.

Now, fans will get an inside look into the rapper’s life.

“I wasn’t a talkative kid, I was an introvert, I didn’t have a lot of friends,” Nasty C said in a statement. “Writing music and rapping was my first form of expression … that’s what I connected to and helped me learn to express myself.”

Opening up about the death of his mother, the rapper said, “I’ve always had stepmothers growing up; it’s just something I thought every other family went through.”

He added that he only really started “being inquisitive” about what happened to his mother when he was a teen.

As for acting, the rapper said, “I don’t know if I want to take acting up as a career; it’s not for me,” but added that he enjoyed trying it out.

“I’ve always wanted to be on a big screen, whether it’s music videos, TV performances, acting, anything like that. I’ve always been a huge fan of movies since I was a kid. Being in Blood and Water was amazing; it was a lot of fun. It made me respect actors even more than I already did. I always thought it was easy, and you just lie and play pretend, but there’s way more to it than that.”

E! VIP with Nasty C airs on Sunday, 19 February, at 20:00 on E! Africa (DStv 124).
